Rising from Ashes documents cycling legend Jock Boyer’s move to Rwanda, to help a group of struggling genocide sruvivors pursue their dream of a national cycling team. Recovering from the traumatic psychological effects of the devastating 1994 genocide, the riders experience on the team has a remarkable positive impact which, whilst not solving all these problems, has made a huge difference in providing for their physical and mental needs.

They have also provided something far greater beyond their team – hope. Rwandans were recovering from the genocide and longed for heroes, the riders of Team Rwanda have become more than just a cycling team, they have become ambassadors of hope and the future as Rising from Ashes powerfully illustrates.
